Music at Old Parish Church
Music has long been a mainstay of the Weston community and Old Parish Church. It is a core dimension of Jon Bliss’ ministry, with his voice and guitar a frequent adjunct to Sunday services. On occasion Jon’s singer-songwriter friends Will Danforth or Bob Franke will help set the spiritual scene. And each summer the Kinhaven Chamber Choir participates in one Sunday service.
“The Old Parish Church music program adds lift to the services and provides a chance for community members to contribute and develop their musical talent. Whether it's a solo voice or a choir, a guitar, flute or organ, music speaks directly to the soul and is an essential part of our spiritual life.”

Organist Carolyn Mullett leads the Old Parish Church choir, a blend of native Vermonters, transplants from “afar” and second homeowners when they are in town. Through the generosity of many friends, the church acquired in 2005 a new Ahlborn-Galanti Organ. Designed specifically for North American churches and organists, this modern electronic instrument manufactured by Generalmusic SpA simulates a variety of instruments and sounds very much like the pipe organ that preceded it.
Through Nativity Plays, special Easter services and other opportunities, children are encouraged to participate in church services and special events. It is rewarding to see and hear them grow in confidence while expanding their vocal and instrumental skills.
